#dedoc° receives grant from Breakthrough T1D to empower global diabetes advocates

#dedoc°, a leading international diabetes advocacy organization, is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking award received from Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF), the leading global type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organization. The award will support the #dedoc° voices scholarship program.

Through this award, Breakthrough T1D will fund the participation and attendance of diabetes advocates from India and Africa at diabetes professional conferences around the world, including ATTD, ADA, EASD, and ISPAD. The initiative aligns with Breakthrough T1D’s commitment to global diabetes advocacy and supports #dedoc°’s mission to amplify the voices of people living with diabetes through meaningful, high-impact engagement and collaboration.

“The #dedoc° voices scholarship program provides a platform for diabetes advocates to bring their insights, expertise and experience to the global stage, collaborate with healthcare providers, researchers and industry, and foster a deeper understanding of the lived experience,” said Bastian Hauck, Founder and CEO of #dedoc°. “Thanks to Breakthrough T1D’s generous support, we will continue to ensure diverse representation of global patient perspectives at major scientific conferences and strengthen our community’s impact worldwide.”

Each #dedoc° scholarship covers travel, accommodation, conference registration and related expenses, enabling #dedoc° voices to attend regardless of financial background. This effort enhances their professional development, but also promotes PwD’s critical role in shaping diabetes discourse, research and policy in general. “#dedoc° is honored to collaborate with Breakthrough T1D in this capacity,” Hauck added. “Their support enables us to further expand our scholarship program in India and Africa, and aligns with our shared vision of fostering community and peer support. We are excited about the future of this partnership and the positive change our #dedoc° voices will bring.”

“Breakthrough T1D is proud to support the #dedoc° voices scholarship program to further engage and elevate the diverse voices of the global T1D community,” said Stephanie Pearson, Breakthrough T1D Senior Director of Global Operations. “Advocacy is critical to driving progress in our global access initiatives and accelerating breakthroughs that will improve the lives of individuals living with T1D around the world. We look forward to the opportunities that this program will create for ongoing collaboration and dialogue in the T1D space that is informed by the perspectives of those advocates living with T1D.”
